Your Go-To Infrared Repair Contractor

Infrared patching is a proven method for repairing damaged asphalt surfaces. At Asphalt Seal & Repair, our professionals are experts in the infrared process, understanding the critical factors that influence its success:

Correctly executing the infrared patching process ensures long-lasting results for asphalt surfaces and saves you money. These repairs are also easy to perform and leave no seams behind, resulting in pavement.

We take pride in being the first company in Wisconsin to utilize this environmentally friendly process. With our experienced crew, you can trust us to get the job done right the first time.

The Infrared Asphalt Repair Process

The infrared process simply heats the damaged asphalt and softens it, allowing us to remove the damaged area without heavy machinery and a large crew. This method is not only cost-effective but also environmentally responsible because it recycles existing asphalt materials.

At Asphalt Seal & Repair, our infrared repair process includes:

#1: Heating and Preparing the Damaged Area

The prepping process is extremely important. Using an infrared panel, we heat the damaged section of pavement to approximately 300 degrees. This softens the existing asphalt, allowing it to be reworked and blended with fresh, virgin asphalt and liquid binder.

During this stage, we remove any deteriorated asphalt, carefully square off the patch area, and prepare the surface for a strong bond. Our repair unit contains an area for us to store the removed material, allowing us to bring it to an asphalt plant to be properly recycled once we complete the patch.

#2: Adding New Asphalt, Leveling, and Compacting

Once the surface is prepped, we add fresh asphalt and evenly spread it to ensure a seamless integration with the surrounding pavement. The area is then leveled and compacted using a 1-ton roller. This final step creates a durable, watertight patch that resists future damage and blends smoothly with the existing surface.

Advantages of Infrared Patching

Saves Money

By using fewer materials and requiring less labor than traditional methods, infrared repairs significantly reduce project costs. The process also delivers long-term value by minimizing future maintenance and repair costs.

More Durable

Infrared repairs deliver a high-quality asphalt patch that prevents water intrusion and cracking at the joint between the old pavement and the new patch, extending the life of the pavement.

Saves Time

Infrared patching is one of the fastest pavement repair methods available. A 5-by-7-foot patch can be completed in 15-20 minutes, depending on the air temperature.

Less Disruption

Because infrared repair doesn’t require saw-cutting, excavation, or hauling debris, the process is quieter and cleaner. Only the infrared-mounted truck and roller are on site.

Recycles Existing Asphalt

The infrared method reuses the existing asphalt and blends it with new material. This results in less mess and is more environmentally friendly than alternative asphalt repair solutions.
